A silverlining

The garden stretched forth

Leaves scattering in its midst

Grass strewed evergreen

Windmills of my mind stirred slow

Recognition of the light

Paper planes flew low

Their noses scraping the dust

The rubble moved slight

The mind composed bleak answers

Call of the heart rising through

Clouds pearled lily white

Amidst announcement of storm

A silverlining

The heart contrasted with mind

Choices like ribbons flew south

The ground heaved to sounds

Spluttering of flames within

The core of the earth

The mind harkened to whispers

That spelt cruelty of men

Eruption threatened

Smoke blew from underbelly

Projections in air

Taut silence blazed in bosom

Rage of many fires swelled

The lava gushed forth

Its path a river winding

Deep into mountain

Anger in the mind spilled forth

Erasing taunts of humans

Grasshoppers’ clamour

Enchanting tunes in the wind

Green grass their stronghold

I knelt to the grass level

Mind connected with the Earth

Fallen leaves crunching

Pathways strewn bloody green trace

End of the leaves’ life

Thoughts roaming to other ends

Life and death in pendulum

Trees whisper in wind

Language of mother to child

Bark oozing shed tears

Motherless, childless I roamed

My balance above all odds

Leaves fall off the tree

Yellow butterflies to ground

Moss heather and stone

Mind’s criss-cross of highs and lows

Tangled webs of slain desires

Clouds gathered in skies

Raindrops showering gardens

Pond fish thirst alive

Mind’s preoccupations cloud

Soul reaching out to rainbows

Birds’ flight back to nest

Huddled sounds of nestling wings

Pairs to one’s solace

Breath of the divine inside

Alone we are not lonesome

Grey dawn awakens

Sleepy grasshoppers stretching

In drizzle of light

Idle thoughts in the half-light

Stir lazily in my mind

Silent butterflies

Flutter in the morning rays

That slowly emerge

My restless hands stretch outwards

Craving gift of the sun’s warmth

Silent observer

Tiny sparrow lands promptly

Perched on my fingers

Turned master of life and death

I lift my hand gingerly

The bird on the hand

Watching clouds fly in the sky

Blue dreams of springtime

Within bosom hopes of sun

Spiral towards lost freedom

Wanton prisoner

Delaying its onward flight

The sparrow hops twice

Curious mind discovering

I repeat the lost trials

The clouds gather dark

Their rims stripped of all linings

Stand dry tone on tone

Knaves take shelter the soonest

While the brave dance in the storms

When the bird chirps soft

Spring softer makes its way through

Flurry of gardens

Within the bosom mellow

Sunshine smiles hummed melodies

The nests are now built

Every strand a tireless flight

Parents made myriads

The hands that ironed now rest

Bright uniforms hanging prim

Rows of birds gather

Their beaks keen tools of language

Yellow orange flare

Women and children converse

Recommendations for school

Birds fly high in skies

Aerial exercise of grace

Coordinated

Mothers watch babies’ movements

Their eyes warm support system

A woodpecker cries

Its nest’s entrance occupied

By bees’ colonies

Livelihood created wiped

New livelihood emerges

Flowers bloom silent

Resplendent colours gushing

The fading shine bright

I watch harmony within

Losing all yet having all

The leaves in tight row

Bordered the alleys that wound

In between patches

Within my bosom clearings

Sat in toasty clusters of thought

Compact flowers shone

Sturdy milk white petunias

All cramped within pots

Tepid ideas roamed slow

In mind’s glowing flushed harbours

Warm winds blowing hard

Mixed petunias and green leaves

Left nothing untouched

Steady confusion of mind

Made patchwork of ideas

The dust riding fast

Sweaty summery playgrounds

Sweltering desert

Pieces in taut memories

Grew hot blizzard in my soul

The Earth cried out loud

She recognized not her pair

Earth and sky repelled

A heated debate ensued

Between rigid mind and heart

The fog clung to him

Like a parasite on beast

That shuddered anew

Confusion reigned in bosom

Replicating dormant fears

The moon high in sky

Glistened on frozen landscapes

Colour of silver

Within my heart the stillness

Shone with steely glint’s tremors

The clouds soft whispered

To pregnant skies that would weep

Particles to keep

Like uncertain skies I shed

Secrets of life that we dread

Dark Matter’s ink diluted

Dark Matter’s ink diluted

10 December 2015

(Original Tanka post “Dark Matter” of March 14, 2015 changed to a new form as a Tanka with a closing Haiku inspired by Ronovan writes Freku but keeping the Tanka form and without rhyming in the other stanzas; I’d be tempted to call it Tankaiku 😀 )

Poppies red in field

Danced to the wake of sunlight

Before stillness hit

Like an earthquake hearts burst out

From withered poppies that shrank

Crimson hearts pulsate

In their naked agony

Frail and bodiless

Slender frame responds shaking

As the hearts begin to beat

The throbbing hummed on

Beating to the rhythm of red

Cast on sea of hearts

Ocean in heart responded

While I picked them one by one

Feathers gathered pink

To gushing crimson fountain

Soft they had been once

Mellow in healing touch

Hands extended I faltered

Sewn across bodies

Shells picking up a new life

Hearts reached out in vain

Tight writhing chest echoed dull

As my arms withdrew sullen

All I had was ink

Dark matter spilled on my hands

As I waved goodbye

My mind walked on free yet tied

To a bottomless low tide

Surviving Dreamtime

Dark Matter’s ink diluted

Heart weightless renewed
