Delilah
(Ode to an unrepentant bitch. A nonsensical journey in seven veils taken over 7 days. A jab in the rib for those who can see themselves here. Did I say jab in the rib?)
23-30 September 2016

And when she danced with seven veils
The scales and gills she then revealed
Delilah
I turned around to Sam’s son
And told him that he’d better run
Delilah
You know my darling my poor hun
Delilah’s after your little bun
Delilah
But poor Sam’s son could hardly speak
His knees were quaking really weak
Delilah
She pounced upon him in a streak
A morsel tender and oh so meek
Delilah
She chewed well chewed then chewed and chewed
Her face all gory red and lewd
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
She’d make your white hairs grow
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
She’s rotten to the core
Delilah
And that my friends was the way
That little Sam’s son went astray
Delilah
She was an ogre she could eat
Those little morsels nice and sweet
Delilah
They said seize that enchantress
We’ll lock her in a fortress
Delilah
She showed them of what she was made
The gills and fin of mermaid
Delilah
They said this is some witchery
We’ll execute her with most glee
Delilah
They took her to the tower’s edge
They would now push her over ledge
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
She’s on a trial’s show
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
Her poor frame they’d throw
Delilah
They said if witch you will bounce
Or all your dark spells now renounce
Delilah
She said maybe I’m a bum
But ain’t for sure some bubble gum
Delilah
They called her little twat and whore
They locked her in forever more
Delilah
In ivory tower she did die
As the years went passing by
Delilah
They nailed her coffin oh so fast
Put her in the ground at last
Delilah
She pleaded bit and scratched and cried
Her face just withered as she lied
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
She’s now lost her glow
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
Yet her hair’ll still grow
Delilah
And when the gravedigger came
To pluck her jewels with no shame
Delilah
She said sweet meat you will be
The last meal of my journey
Delilah
She chewed yes chewed Oh chewed and chewed
And morsels to her teeth were glued
Delilah
Her real face showed it was so crude
Her character so flawed and rude
Delilah
And with her last meal it had come
The mark of her lost kingdom
Delilah
She flew out haunting all the west
She brought more havoc and unrest
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
She’s caught on though slow
Delilah
Oh no no
Delilah
You’re her food to sow
Delilah

Is this the same Delilah from the bible ? What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?

It’s a mock reference related to a personal experience

You paint quite an evil picture but it is lovely and worthy of melody. I hope this wasn’t personal.

Everything is always a bit personal to a degree but I sublime my worse instincts by literally writing them off 😉
It is quite evil, right? 😀
I am glad you liked it all the same. Thanks 🙂

Yes, evil…and apparently quite therapeutic as well!

Very much so 😉

It’s of course a mockery, twisting around the ridiculous mindsets of some. It’s to be read as second degree happenings 😉

The melody you sang this poem to was so far from the one I made up for myself whilst reading. It was so twisted and fun. I loved it.

I’d be interested in hearing what you had in store for us. Do share your production, I’m sure it would be lovely. Thanks for enjoying. I thought it quite evil and wondered whether I would get hatemails 😀

Oh, it is quite evil. That’s why I liked it. In my mind it was a sort of Tom Waits song. I’ll spare you my rendition.

Oh, don’t spare. I’m sure I am not the only one interested now..
