The silence
23 March 2016

The silence
It charges the mind
Loaded gun
Roulette spun
Inventing reasons to see
Beyond eye’s sight space
The silence
Like a stubborn child
It wriggles
Fighting back
Refusing to cut me slack
As I compress it
The silence
Looming like a cloud
It hovers
All covers
In icy understanding
Of oncoming death
The silence
It leaks from the roof
Into bed
And breakfast
Routine of a buzzing life
Filling emptiness
The silence
It pervades matter
Engulfs me
Like dark cloak
Erasing the words we spoke
In between phrases
The silence
It gnaws like a doubt
Its teeth firm
Its jaws set
Onslaught rising at sunset
It carves my time loops
The silence
I embrace its fog
It cajoles
Caresses
Within past weave frame dresses
As I tick seconds
Reading of the poem:

Silence – Vargo
wow who knew silence encompasses so much?

I find silence is only helpful when I am writing. In everything else in my life, i want there to be noise. Silence for me, without the ability to write what I am feeling, can be very dangerous to my inner peace.

I understand the feeling Eric. Thanks for sharing. I personally have an ambiguous relationship with silence. I wonder sometimes if I actually have an ambiguous relationship with all concepts around me in this plane 😀

Uncomfortable silences well expressed

Thank you. Sometimes I find silence extremely comforting and enjoy being on my own but sometimes it is not quite as welcome. On specific occasions it can be quite disturbing.

Funny how an unknown can take on so many characteristics and how well you personify.

Thank you Marissa. It is true that what is unknown and mysterious plays with our mind and hearts.
