Heartbeat my Essence
24 November 2015

A beat for the calm
Before the tempest arose
A flutter harkened
A beat for the balm
Anointing oils liquefied
From pangs of my soul
A beat for the wild
After stormy weather broke
Within the branches
A beat for the child
Born and borne through darker calls
Silence its witness
A beat for the Love
Dilating all pours within
Violet skies’ flush
A beat for the Dove
High above in skies brandished
Now pulled through dark grime

A beat for the mind
Quintessential brainwave
Surging happiness
A beat for the blind
Hope shimmering for them brought
From Heaven’s waters
A beat for the brave
Bearing throb in chest unbent
Steal less for the night
A beat for the knave
Compassion more than pity
Governing life’s throngs
A beat for you, me
Heartbeat my Essence
A gift to the world
A beat for the free
Whose chest expands and dilates
Misery dies late

Heartbeats – Niladri Kumar
I picture Mother Earth’s heart beating as I read your words…once again, you employ beautiful imagery within your words and leave me wondering what my heart beats for…beautiful!

Thank you Thomas. What a lovely compliment! It is the ultimate aim of a poet/writer to move with words and draw a landscape in the mind of the reader
