Like pockets in Heart

The drizzling rain sighed

Upon plains of autumn leaves

That sizzled in heat

In memory raindrops fell

Washing down yesterday’s peaks

Begonias stood dull

Huddled in a tight circle

Wrapped around dark mud

Where did they now disappear

Blazing colours of your Love?

Petunias listless

Stretched in the midst of vases

Like pockets in Heart

White lies fell on burning Soul

That saw through the stories told

Cold air touched the heat

Mist-like pattern on the glass

Intrinsic cooling

Reminding me of first chill

My Heart stilled itself like stone

Voices through the mist

Muffled by the words of loss

Carried themselves low

Within my heart your voice called

Shattering icy carvings

    • Thank you Mark, so kind of you. It is actually poetry in Tanka form. Tanka is considered the ancestor of Haiku and is a “genre of classical Japanese poetry”.

“Tanka consist of five units […] usually with the following pattern:
      5-7-5-7-7.[3]
The 5-7-5 is called the kami-no-ku (上の句 “upper phrase”?), and the 7-7 is called the shimo-no-ku (下の句 “lower phrase”?).” Source wikipedia.org https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanka
