Waters in rivers
26 January 2016
Remember
The lazy sunshine
Uncovered
Discovered
Our creased and tired bodies
That night had stitched tight
We withdrew
Chasing the slumber
Your neck firm
Nose in crooks
Of those times I could write books
Tantalising flights
Inside you
Lemon and honey
The bees clung
The flies cried
Upon your shirt my tears dried
Summer was blazing
Winter came
It skipped autumn’s leaves
Fast hurtled
Blood curdled
The scream never left my lips
Smothered in silence
Outside Blue
Scent of jam wasted
Blueberries
Mossy bread
Knives tearing inside my head
Remains of dried fruit
Apple pie
Clammy like a lie
Stuffed throat
Faces gloat
The love is not for keeping
Like us you’re weeping
I dive lone
Into bleak memories
The lakes blue
The sun high
The heart brimming in a sigh
Plunge in Neverland
Forgotten
The path to surface
Oxygen
Rarefied
From everything the Heart shied
Tray gold food rotten
Within dreams
My toe meets your knee
Shivering
Stolen touch
Alas memories how they flee
With my sight waking
I stand still
The birds now chirp low
Their beaks keen
Hues unseen
Colours fuse on window sill
The glass a blue wall
They fly free
While I turn my back
Underage
By design
Running still on the same track
In childhood I whine
Bring me now
To this grown body
Dried raisins
Await me
You and I a haunted ghost
Abyss clothed in skins

She timeless
Runs through the forests
Laughter bright
Hooded night
A shield from morrows
Binds her to your corpse
Suddenly
You cut the ropes loose
Hanging hard
Clinging on
The loose ends ring emptily
The feelings now dawn
Bittersweet
Threads of silk flutter
You are gone
The clouds fall
Crashing on Earth they are born
Waters in rivers
Now I live
Unseeing eye strays
Blank stares freeze
Warm Heart thaws
There are reasons to forgive
I find many ways

Where should I be shipping that pedestal?? You are amazing. I read this stanza three times. Inside you
Lemon and honey
The bees clung
The flies cried
Upon your shirt my tears dried
Summer was blazing
Don’t know why but it resonated with me. I want you to know I may read your posts a little later than every one else, but that is because I want to read your work uninterrupted. So, I need to wait for the proper moment.

Ah ah ah, you’re so sweet. Thank you Andrew and I am glad you read them regardless of when. It’s actually a privilege for me if you wish to do so uninterrupted. Perhaps it resonated with you because you are so supportive to people around you, like their backbone 🙂

A beautiful poem, I love the part and imagery that hooklineandinkwell mentioned in his comment and also “Our creased and tired bodies
That night had stitched tight” what a great euphemism those lines would make!

Thank you so much Melinda. I don’t know if you’ve experienced it before but sometimes if you spend the whole night skin against skin with someone then in the morning it is like both your bodies have been glued together and other times there are small lines that stay from the impact of hair etc. I wrote thinking back to such a situation 😀

Thank you Sanghamitra. I wondered about putting the gifs as some said they found them distracting but I really felt these blended with the poem nicely. Thanks for confirming that feeling 🙂

Love is not for keeping…there’s a song by The Who called Love Ain’t For Keeping….such a sad and beautiful sentiment expressed here.

The turning point, when winter arrived, skipping autumn’s leaves, is haunting and familiarly sad…how quickly those summer moments come to an end in a relationship. I also love the hope at the end where the speaker finds many ways to forgive for forgiveness is both selfless and selfish – we forgive others as a sign of peace towards them but more so for our own peace of mind. Great writing, Geetha.
