Freelancer
20 February 2016

They work blind
Their tools are hammers
Mouth unkind
Sullen face
Words they spew are of disgrace
For crushed soul stammers
Shadow race
They crawl the Earth slow
High and low
Is not theirs
Like sparrow announcing rain
They scrape tides of pain
Others fly
Wings beacon of light
Soaring high
In the sky
Illuminating the night
Round the clock daytime
Merry hearts
Their high-pitched songs float
Above gloom
They shun doom
Silken sound ushered from throat
Life stills as it starts
I stand poised
Neither here nor there
In between
Light’s slices
There is more to it then seen
Balance to lead dance
Who should win
In love all is fair
I ponder
Freelancer
Recklessly casting dices
Leaving it to chance
Reading of the poem:

Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard – Now we are Free
Beautiful 🙂

freelancing is tough; i couldn’t find enough work to make that a full time gig and still pay my mortgage. I admire those who have made it work.
“Like sparrow announcing rain
They scrape tides of pain” — this is great description of how freelancing feels especially if you have to compete for a job.

Freelancing is deadly in the GCC because you have no way of making sure your clients pay you and there are very few credit reviews available.

GCC? ouch. That sounds dicey indeed!

That’s what I thought though google came up with a bunch of other possibilities. Figured I’d just ask and let the expert explain 🙂 Thank you!

I was a freelancer – the dice fell right. I liked the poem and the music, although I can’t identify with your opening 🙂

This poem is on another level than the job although there is somehow a mission statement involved. It describes two extreme categories and freelancer is meant to refer to someone who does not belong to either category

Love this portrayal of an observer, maybe afraid to partake.

Thanks Marissa. I feel it is our role to observe without judging including ourselves.

Secrets lurk behind the veil of the physical, few sense it, a lot don’t but in time will. Beautiful composition!
