Moving fruit of Earth to space
19 December 2015

Butterflies
Swarming in garden
Tiger backs
Million eyes
They reach out to me with hope
Written on their wings

Rising sun
Warms my back mellow
Earth crunches
Under feet
The fallen leaves speak of change
Within the morrows
Potting soil
Sunken hands planted
Firmly wed
Rising seeds
Moving fruit of Earth to space
Of larger landscapes

I love the potting soil image. When I was a little girl my Mom Mable Palmer used to do a lot of gardening in the backyard. Mommy really had a “Green Thumb.” Her best plants were myself and my brother Stephen. She tended the soil of our growth tenderly.
