As the Ravens swarm

As the Ravens swarm

Slow they show

The shimmering peaks

The love’s hope

Periscope

Looking out of the waters

Rimmed with icy blue

The cleansing

Gift of springtime’s sprouts

Dancing feet

Humming beat

Prancing around the lilies

Chasing across Time

It blinks fast

The glowing heartbeat

Building up

Winding stairs

Leading down into the wells

Where the blood simmers

Flatline’s trace

When all is balance

Without face

She calls loud

Her shadows like the moon’s hue

Silver and grey streaks

We renew

From depths of our selves

Holy chants

Bees’ water

Our birth into mystic skies

Which speak of fear’s loss

Of decaying skin

Cleaned so neat what feat!

This absence

In presence

I scrubbed harder than steel nails

This soul how she wails

The moon flies

Over dark rivers

Where men cry

As they die

Their souls steeped in nothingness

The void it calls so

In the skies

High above the trees

She glimmered

Slight traces

Aurora borealis

Shimmering portal

Pilgrimage

To darker silence

Where the waves

Ride the shades

Of snow falling onto stones

Altars of the old

We rehearse

Death and its shadows

Like bleak slaves

Submissive

Mortality donned like cloak

We once immortal

They bind us

With paper names’ codes

Like grey moths

To stark light

We go down without a fight

Our minds bound to false

Like dewdrops

The gleaming droplets

Of bloods call

Misery

A notion to overcome

As the Ravens swarm

  1. This is a brilliant allegory. The status of human nature, the passage of time and the pursuit of our dreams. I love how ravens are used to depict the passage of time. Beautiful work, Geetha. Impressive imagery.

  2. If we all spent more time focusing on what will happen to the part that will not die, world would be a better place. After all, a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.
Gorgeous as always, and I can see that your fascination with ravens has returned.

  3. beautiful poem, I especially love the the last three stanzas and the way you play with common phrases there giving them fresh meaning:

    “They bind us

    With paper names’ codes

    Like grey moths

    To stark light

We go down without a fight

    Our minds bound to false”

That’s just awesome the moth to flame analogy and the way you twist it.
