Memory Box

Memory box

Leaves scattered free

From a volume of yellow

Untainted by pale death

As they fell out of oblivion

Haunting eerie melody

Played in my soul’s cage

By an invisible shepherd

As he beckons to the rise

Stillness springs to action

Unwinds what lay frozen

In the heart of darkness

A ray of blissful light flies

Shining through the void

A memory pierces through

Cutting the veil of shadow

Cast on our fear-clad souls

Slowly figures stir to dance

On the path of remembrance

A freedom long forgotten

Is at more than a second play

Souls’ fingers strive reaching

To a code of intricate Braille

Reading the forgotten lines

As a memory box unravels
